Okidata Toner cartridges

Get genuine original Okidata Toner Cartridges and Oki supplies or USA Brand compatible toner

OKI develops and makes its own consumables to ensure the best performance from their printers. While there seems to be many choices of replacement consumable for OKI toner-based printers—including some from non-printer companies—only one brand is recommended for use in our machines: genuine OKI toner.

Microfine Spherical Toner

In the mid 1990s, OKI introduced a revolutionary new type of toner for their monochrome page printer engines.

Traditionally, a crushing/grinding process was used to produce the fine toner powder to be used in the electrophotographic printing process (see image at right). OKI understood that this process led to some disadvantages to the printer user:

Jagged edges of the toner particles allowed the toner to form on the paper in poor image quality (creating a “dusting” effect)

Scattering effect that was visible at edges of lines and characters, due to the movement of the rough edged toner during the process

To overcome these deficiencies, OKI developed Microfine Spherical Toner. A chemical process is used, producing smooth round particles about one-tenth the size of traditional toner (see image at right).

The advantages were immediately clear.

  • Virtually no toner scatter
  • Sharper, crisper characters (even visible to the naked eye)
  • Low-Melt Formulation

As users’ printing demands increase and printers are required to print at higher speeds, the toner must be heat/pressure fused to the paper in ever shortening times. This means fusing at higher temperatures and therefore higher printer power consumption.

OKI’s commitment to preserving the environment dictated that OKI engineering should develop a low melting temperature toner to overcome this problem. A unique special toner was created. To stop the low temperature toner surface fusing and coagulating during storage, each individual toner particle is encapsulated in a polymer shell to preserve the integrity and free-flow characteristics of the compound. OKI can now continue to produce printers that use no extra power to fuse the toner to the paper thus preserving the environment.

As a by-product of this development, the user gets:

  • Faster printing as the printer takes less time to warm up
  • No additional/less energy consumption – more environmentally friendly
  • Noise reduction in some of our printers due to absence of a fan

Does your Brother Printer give you a Drum Error Message?

Why does “Replace Drum” or “Drum Error” continue to appear on the LCD after replacing the drums?

  1. When the new drum units were installed, were you able to print using the new drums and then the error appeared OR you have NOT used the new drums at all because the error message is on the display?

*  If you used the new drums and then the error appeared after some printing, go to solution: How do I clear the message “Drum Error, Replace the Drum Unit”?

* If you have NOT used the new drums because the error message is on the display, go to STEP 2.

  1. Was a new, out of the box drum set installed?

–      If NO, you should install a new, out of the box drum set to clear the message.

–      If YES, go to STEP 3.

  1. Perform the following steps to reset the drums:
  2. On the control panel, press Menu, 8 (Machine Info), 4 (Reset menu).

NOTE: If the reset option is not available, this means “Replace Drum(s) or “Drum Error” is not currently displayed on the LCD.  The option is only available when machine has the “Replace Drum(s)” or “Drum Error” message.  Have the customer re-read the LCD.

  1. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW key to choose the color of the drum unit you replaced and then press the Ok key.
  2. Press 1 to reset the drum unit counter.
  3. Press Stop/Exit.
  4. Repeat Step 3a – 3d for all four drums.

–      If the error message no longer appears, the issue is resolved.

–      If the error message continues to appear, repeat STEP 3 to ensure the steps were completed correctly.

–      If the error message continues to appear and you already repeated the reset steps, continue for further instructions.

If the message continues to appear, the drum units should be replaced with a new drum.  The drums are consumable items that require periodic replacement.

Different Brother Printers have numerous responses to reset the counter on your printer. Check your manual or go online or call us 619-684-5241

Worker Indicted In $6.7M Toner Scheme

Have you ever seen those amazing deals on Ebay,  Amazon or Craigslist?
Sometimes the deal seem to good to be true.
Read this article by Sara Jerome. These things happen all the time, so the next time your ordering printer toner cartridges or ink cartridges, I ask you to consider the source.

Vegas Utility Worker Indicted In $6.7M Office Supply Scheme

Sara Jerome

By Sara Jerome

A fraudulent office supply purchasing scheme by a former water district employee defrauded a water supplier for millions of dollars, according to charges announced by U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden for the District of Nevada.

Jennifer McCain-Bray, an employee of the Las Vegas Valley Water District for over 14 years, pleaded not guilty to six mail fraud charges last week. She was ordered released, and a court date is set for September over the alleged $6.7 million scheme, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. She was indicted by a federal grand jury, which means she now faces a trial.

McCain-Bray rose from office assistant to purchasing assistant to purchasing analyst, according to the Justice Department. “If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count,” The Justice Department reported. The case is under investigation by the FBI.

“Her job, with an annual salary of $97,880, involved dealing with vendors and buying supplies and materials for the valley’s largest water utility,” The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. McCain-Bray’s plot focused on “fraudulent purchases of ink cartridges and toner from Staples Office Supplies,” KTNV reported.

McCain-Bray allegedly purchased ink and toner on behalf of the water district, funneling them to a New Jersey company that resold the items for profit, according to the Justice Department. The company then transferred money into McCain-Bray’s PayPal account. McCain purchased about $6.7 million in ink and toner cartridges with water district funds, the Justice Department alleged.

“Water district spokesman Bronson Mack has said ‘easily’ tens of thousands of cartridges were fraudulently bought and sold through the utility’s purchasing department. According to the district, McCain-Bray used the agency’s mailing system to ship boxes of the cartridges to an apparently fake New Jersey company called Symm Distributors Inc.,”  the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Bogden cited the consequences of financial fraud.

“Nevada residents pay for this type of financial fraud through inflated costs and loss of faith in government,” he said in a statement. “We are committed to the vigorous enforcement of financial fraud crimes, and encourage residents to report suspected financial crimes to your local police department or the FBI.”

Printer Ink and Toner Cartridge Questions

Printer Ink and Toner Cartridge Questions

Educate yourself! This page is designed to give you a quick overview of common printer errors some experience when using inkjet cartridges and how to navigate through them quickly. It’s amazing how quickly you can become an expert once you have the right information! We hope this will guide you on your way to becoming an expert!

Why does my printer say my cartridge is empty?

In most cases, the printer will show that the cartridge is empty or low on ink. This is completely normal and happens because the original cartridge has been reused. The cartridge will still work and last just as long as the original (in most cases longer) and may simply require that a box be checked, a button be pressed and/or the ink level warning be ignored.

Will a remanufactured cartridge void my printer warranty by the manufacturer?

It is illegal for a printer manufacturer to require you to use or purchase a particular brand of supply, just as it is illegal for your car dealer to require only original parts be used to fix your car. An OEM cannot void your warranty unless they can conclusively prove that other brands of supplies will damage your machine. To enforce a policy such as this is in direct violation of the Sherman & Clayton Antitrust Acts.

The cartridge won’t fit. What should I do?

Confirm that you have the correct cartridge for your printer by consulting your printer manual or this website. If there was a transportation clip attached to the cartridge, it will need to be removed. If the clip is still on the cartridge, you will not be able to see the copper contacts.

How will I know when the cartridge is truly low on ink?

When the print quality begins to change (light print, half print, streaking, etc), that is an indication that it is time to change the cartridge.

I have heard bad things about remanufactured cartridges. What should I look for in a remanufactured cartridge?

Each cartridge should be tested for defects prior to being remanufactured. The ink should be removed from the cartridge prior to refilling, and the inks used should be specially formulated for each type of cartridge. There should be processes in place to ensure consistent and accurate filling. The cartridge should be print-tested after refilling to ensure that the colors match and to make sure there is no smearing or streaking.

What is the difference between a compatible and a remanufactured cartridge?

A remanufactured cartridge is one that has been refilled using the OEM (genuine) empty cartridge while a compatible cartridge is made of brand new (non-genuine) components. Remanufactured cartridges are very similar in appearance to OEM cartridges while compatible cartridges may look different.

I can’t find my printer’s User Manual. What can I do?

Most User Manuals can be found on the Manufacturer’s website.

I see ink in my printer. Is this normal?

All inkjet printers contain a spittoon (sometimes called a reservoir) that collects the ink that is removed from the cartridge when the inkjet is primed. This spittoon can be either a plastic tray or a piece of foam that absorbs the excess ink. Some of the ink can dry (which makes the foam not absorb as well), and the ink that isn’t absorbed sits in the bottom of the printer. This is how ALL inkjet printers work, which is why it is never a good idea to move an inkjet printer as there will more than likely be ink in the bottom (especially older printers or printers that are used a lot).

This is not a common occurrence but will happen eventually and is not the fault of the cartridge but rather a result of the printer performing its job. If you notice this in your printer, you may need to have it serviced.

Printer Maintenance, Cartridge Support

To get the best quality print, every time you print, we recommend the following printer maintenance. Not only can these suggestions help to provide the most optimal printing results, they may also increase the longevity of your printer!

Printer Maintenance Tips

  • Use your printer regularly. Leaving your printer idle for long periods of time can cause the printheads to dry up. Try to use your printer at least once a week to preserve your inkjet cartridges.
  • Clean your printheads regularly.
  • Replace your cartridges at the first sign of poor print quality. This often indicates that the ink levels are getting low, and the cartridges should be replaced before they are completely empty.
  • If your printer has replaceable printheads (ie. HP 88 series, 10 series, 11 series, etc), they typically may need to be replaced every 4-5 cartridges. If the printhead wears out, the cartridge may give a low ink reading or fail to print. Often this is mistaken for a cartridge error when it is actually a worn out printhead.
  • Clean the outside of your printer at least once a week. Use a damp, lint-free cloth dampened with water or rubbing alcohol (nothing stronger) to wipe away dust, dirt, animal hair, and other contaminants.
  • Cover your printer when it’s not in use. Printer covers (available from office supply stores) protect your printer while you’re not using it.
  • Don’t use compressed air to clean out your printer. Doing so may force dust and debris into the printer. Instead, use a keyboard vacuum (available from office supply stores) to clean the inside of your printer.
  • Always use the Power button to turn off your printer. If you use a power strip, don’t just turn it off – make sure to power down the printer properly.
  • Keep an extra cartridge on hand. In the rare instance that your problem cannot be solved by the steps on this website, you’ll have a spare.

Setup Cartridge Tips

  • Some printers require that Setup cartridges be installed to set up that printer and before any other cartridges are used (either OEM or remanufactured). The starter cartridges are used to prime the printhead, and the coding is different so regular cartridges cannot be used.
  • If a printer and/or printhead requires the use of Setup cartridges, they should be included with that item. If the printer came without Setup cartridges, it should be returned to the retailer.
  • Additionally, Setup cartridges must be new. If they have been previously used in another printer, they will not work to set up a new printer.
  • If you receive an error message stating “Use SETUP Cartridges”, make sure that all installed cartridges are marked “SETUP” and are new.
